Depending on the student’s focus, 4 week seminar courses will be available for credit. Those courses include, but not limited to: Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Performance, Social Worker, Pharmacology, Optometry, Counseling, Psychology, etc. During the senior year, HPA members will design and implement an individualized capstone project in an area of their interest. Once approved, a community mentor will be appointed to assist the student with developing the capstone project during their senior year. Each academic year will include a culminating Capstone Showcase, open to parents and community members, in which each academy member will present their project.

Students who complete the Health Professions Academy will develop the fundamental training and skills needed to prepare them for a life of service to their community as health care provider. Students who complete academy requirements will receive a Health Professions Academy designation on their transcript.

Students accepted into the health professions academy are held to high behavioral standards befitting those seeking to become medical professionals within the community. Some of the professions we will be learning about include: athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, acupuncture, sports performance and training, medical and dental coding, epidemiology, counseling, social work, psychology and many more.
