While we can’t celebrate the Class of 2020 in the way we intended, we are excited to invite seniors and their families to the celebration opportunities below. Student safety is always our top priority, and these events are no different. Please know that proper safety measures will be enforced for administrators, faculty, and staff who work at each event, and our expectation is that all families and students who participate in the drive-thru events will stay in their car for the entirety of the event. We will continue to update this page and modify our plans as state and local laws and guidelines allow.
Questions that are not answered on this page or in Community Updates may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please allow 24 hours for a reply by a Response Team member.
May 1 – Graduation Survey & Senior Profile
An important survey will be emailed to all seniors in late April. The information collected in this survey will be included and used for Awards Night on May 19 and the graduation ceremony at the end of May. Please be sure to complete this no later than May 1, 2020.
May 1 – Senior Celebration at OLu
3:30 – 5:30 pm
Drive through the parking lot to receive a special yard sign and treat reserved especially for our awesome seniors! To maximize traffic flow and minimize back-up, students will arrive on a staggered schedule based on assigned groups. Details, including group assignments, a traffic flow map, and specific arrival times, will be sent to participating families and students on Wednesday.
May 17- Senior Memories
Check the Student Life This Week email for the Senior Memories video compiled by your student leaders, but made up of your photos!
May 18- Remote Mr. Lancer
This event, originally scheduled to be held on campus on March 12, was held via Instagram on May 18. Congratulations to Mr. Lancer 2020, Adam Alam!
May 21 – Senior BBQ + Distribution of Yearbooks
Yearbooks and TK burgers! Seniors will have this special opportunity to pick-up the yearbook and grab a drive-thru burger at the same time. Watch your email for additional information.
May 29 – Grad Night
Disneyland has canceled all Grad Night events, and given the current landscape, this, unfortunately, means that the original Grad Night experience for the Class of 2020 has also been postponed. If an opportunity within appropriate guidelines and environmental factors presents itself, a team is working on plans to host a graduate dinner and grad night experience, most likely set to occur during the month of July as the last opportunity on the calendar before seniors leave for their respective colleges and universities. Additional details regarding the possibility of these plans will be communicated to families at a later date.
May 31 – Finishing Lancer Strong Parade
The originally scheduled virtual graduation has been replaced with an on-campus Finishing Lancer Strong Parade on Sunday, May 31. This will be a school-wide celebration beginning at 4:30 pm for Freshmen, 5:30 pm for Sophomores, 6:30 pm for Juniors and the grand finale beginning from 8:30 – 9:45 pm for Seniors. Students will receive an email with a requested time of arrival to help regulate traffic flow and allow everyone to enjoy the celebration.
July 10 & 11 – Graduation
Based on the current regulations and working through every feasible option available, we are pleased to share with you that we will be hosting graduation in the parking lot of Orange Lutheran High School on Friday, July 10, 2020 and Saturday, July 11, 2020. Click here to read the May 22 announcement for additional information. RSVPs will open at 3 pm on Tuesday, May 26.
Orange Lutheran’s goal is to personalize learning and reduce student stress during this unprecedented time. Accordingly, for semester 2, 2020, we will adapt the traditionally administered final exams worth 20% of students’ overall course grades. Instead, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of essential understandings and skills by completing a culminating assessment worth 10% of their overall grade in each course. These assessments will be due by 11:59 pm on the traditionally scheduled final exam date for each course.
The College Board recently released the 2020 AP Testing Guide, which provides students with important information for their AP Exam test day(s). Additional student support materials recently released by the College Board include a 2020 AP Exam Day Checklist, a series of “Explainer Videos,” and an AP Exam Demonstration Site that allows students to practice key logistics before exam day. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with these key resources before your student’s scheduled AP Exam day(s). Our teachers are also sharing this information with students during class time this week.
In their College Board account, students should elect colleges to receive their score reports by June 20, 2020. In the College Board system, our school name is Lutheran High School of Orange County, and our school code is 052269.
While we strongly encourage students to take their scheduled AP Exams, any student already registered for an exam can choose to cancel at no charge. Refunds for cancelled tests will occur after the last scheduled AP Exam test date. Please contact the College Board directly with additional questions or concerns regarding AP exams for 2020. Finally, please be sure to mark email@example.com as part of your approved sender lists to ensure receipt of email communication from the College Board.
The Orange Lutheran High School Online Bookstore is open and ready to buy your textbooks back. Shipping is free and you will be paid by PayPal or check.
