An Evening with Darryl Strawberry

Darryl Strawberry was extremely successful in his career as a player for the New York Mets, but his personal life was plagued with addictions, abuse, divorces, cancer, jail time, and other issues. Darryl finally found true redemption and restoration in Jesus Christ. Join us to hear his powerful story! This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is appreciated, but not required.

  • Book Signing – 5:30-6:30 pm: A book signing for Darryl’s book, “Turn Your Season Around,” will be held prior to the event near the entrance to the Nechita Center. This opportunity is limited to the first 50 guests in attendance, who will receive a free copy of the book to be signed. Only the provided books may be signed — signatures on baseballs, jerseys, posters, personal books, etc., will not be allowed.
  • Worship with Orange Lutheran’s Creative Worship Team – 6:45-7:15 pm: Enjoy powerful music and performances by Orange Lutheran students who serve on our Creative Worship team!
  • Speaking Event – 7:15-8:15 pm: The main event — Darryl Strawberry will be sharing his testimony and his passion for the Lord.

Darryl Strawberry is described as a legend by many who have been dazzled by the dynamics of his game, the power he possessed at the plate, and the story of redemption that continues to bring hope to so many lives. He has earned the legendary nicknames and phrases of one of the most feared homerun hitters in the game of baseball, Straw’s Sweet Swing, Strawberry’s Field Forever, and The Legendary Straw Man!


Today, as an ordained Minister, Darryl’s purpose and passion are serving The Lord Jesus Christ by speaking a message of hope and helping others transform their lives through the power of the gospel. “I was once very lost and tormented but now I am found and free in Christ Jesus.
