Preparing Students for a

Meaningful Life of Service and Purpose

Leading the state with one of the best student-to-counselor ratios, Orange Lutheran’s passionate and specifically trained counselors work with students to enhance the learning process and promote career, academic, and social-emotional development while building skills and behaviors critical for academic achievement. Each OLu counselor provides college and career planning services, and additional support is available through College Consulting Plus+ and for athletes who plan on continuing their career at a collegiate level.

College Planning Support for All Students

Orange Lutheran is committed to giving every student the support they need to choose a college or university that best fits them academically, socially, and spiritually. The Counseling & College Planning Department is available to all students and parents in several ways:

  • Empower students during the college decision-making process through one-on-one college planning appointments and encouragement to find the college that is the best fit for them
  • Counsel students regarding relevant testing (SAT, ACT, etc.) procedures and dates, as well as provide practice test opportunities
  • Offer unique, comprehensive college planning seminars for each grade level as well as seminars on topics such as college athletics, college financial aid, and transitioning to college
  • Assist with college and career exploration using Naviance Student
  • Guidance tailored for future collegiate athletes with our NCAA Advisor
  • Assist students and parents with all questions and concerns related to academic advising and college planning

Specialized Guidance by Grade Level

Two freshman-only counselors guide our newest Lancers, which may include managing a schedule with increased academic rigor, adjusting to changing friend groups, and getting connected to new activities on campus. For our 10th-12th graders, our counselors provide a wide variety of support services, including one-on-one college planning appointments, grade-level seminars, and much more.

AP & Honors Courses

For those students who are seeking the most rigorous course load, we offer 24 honors level courses and 19 Advanced Placement (AP) courses taught by expert teachers who inspire and challenge our students. Our AP students consistently score significantly higher than California and national averages.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

College Consulting Plus+

Student-athletes have specific concerns that require additional counselor advice and support. Access to Naviance

Orange Lutheran is pleased to offer our families access to Naviance Student, a comprehensive website that parents and students can use to help make decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Naviance also lets us share information with families about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other resources for college and career information. Students and parents can also use the site to stay in communication with the counseling office. Click here for additional information about Naviance.
