Vocal Jazz Ensemble wins first place at Fullerton College Jazz Festival Orange Lutheran's Vocal Jazz Ensemble took first place in the Advanced category at this weekend's Fullerton College Jazz Festival. The ensemble was competing at the Advanced level for the first time, having won first place last year in Intermediate. Orange Lutheran's other entries also performed well this year. Orange Lutheran's Women's Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the only ensemble at the competition exclusively composed of women, won third place in Intermediate, and singer Jenny Swoish competed in the Soloist category and placed third.
Orange Lutheran's Jazz Band performers take the stage this weekend at Fullerton jazz club Members of Orange Lutheran's Jazz Band have hit the big time. This Saturday, they will be in the spotlight as they perform two 40 minute sets at Steamers Jazz Club and Cafe in Fullerton. It is the second year that Orange Lutheran's band has been invited to play at the club as part of a series sponsored by Friends of Jazz, Inc., a local nonprofit organization.
Five Orange Lutheran students singing next week in All-State Jazz Choir Kirsten Alario (Alto), Jordan Goodsell (Tenor), Mitchell Saulnier (Bass), Jenny Swoish (Soprano), and Zach Zumbek (Tenor) were named to the choir by the California Music Educators Association and the California Alliance for Jazz. They will perform at a special concert
Lancer Band to Perform at Rose Bowl before BCS Championship Orange Lutheran High School's Marching Band & Color Guard will perform tomorrow outside the Rose Bowl at the ESPN National Championship Tailgate, just before the Alabama Crimson face the Texas Longhorns in the BCS National Championship Game. The Lancer Band will open at noon for two rock bands, Switchfoot and the Goo Goo Dolls, amid fans assembled for the ultimate college football event of the season.
Orange Lutheran's Jenny Swoish stars in OC Pavilion's Peter Pan Swoish, a senior at Orange Lutheran, plays Wendy in 3-D Theatrical's produciton of the J.M. Barrie classic, playing through December 20 at the OC Pavilion Performing Arts Theater in Santa Ana
Roses for Chelsea plays in Liverpool Beatles Festival The band, comprised of Orange Lutheran student Evan Haymond and alumni Kurt Tellez '09 and Scott Stewart '09, played in the International Beatles Festival in Liverpool, England last week. They performed both classic Beatles tunes as well as their own songs in five gigs, including one at the legendary Cavern, where the Fab Four were discovered by their manager, Brian Epstein.
Nechita Center's theater program showered with awards, nominations Orange Lutheran High School's theater program earned the praise of critics this week, receiving dozens of awards or award nominations.
Orange Lutheran Chamber Choir to perform at Carnegie Hall this Sunday The choir, under the direction of Renée Cahill, will sing Vivaldi's "Gloria" inside the famous music venue in New York City.
Choral Music
The Choral Music Department of Lutheran High School of Orange County strives to connect their students with as many performance opportunities as possible. Whether it is singing in the auditioned Chamber Singer’s ensemble or leading worship in chapel, there is something for everyone. With nearly 300 singers performing in 4 choirs and 5 auditioned ensembles under the direction of Mrs. Renee Cahill and Mr. Daniel Vu we continue to reach out to our school and our community sharing the gifts that God has given us.
Dance
Using the Nechita stage as a backdrop students explore dance choreography while emphasizing personal exploration, insightful artistic expression and presentation. Year-round performance opportunities range from Broadway style productions to dance theater. Under the direction of renowned choreographer Jamie Nadeau, students continue to nurture and adopt the values and discipline that dancer's develop through practice and performance.
Instrumental Music
Consisting of a marching band as well as a string orchestra, Orange Lutheran's instrumental music program seeks to glorify God through His gift of music. With several concerts and other events throughout the year, there are plenty of opportunties for students to develop their gifts.
Musical Theater & Drama
The Theatre and Dramatic Arts Program gives all students frequent opportunities to learn, grow, and perform in a variety of productions. The academic year features three Broadway style shows along with many more performance opportunities. Under the direction of Mrs. Danielle Frazier, an accomplished director with a talent for engaging young people, LHS is dedicated to creating the most compelling and meaningful dramatic arts program in the country. All students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in theatre.

The Nechita Center offers an exciting new way to purchase tickets to Arts Performances at Orange Lutheran: Online Ticketing. Now you can choose your seats from an interactive seating chart, see a photo of the view from those seats to the stage, and seat family and friends close by. Then, after you've paid for your tickets you can choose to have them left at Will Call or better still, you can print your tickets at home! All of this can be done from the privacy and convenience of your own home or office.
