Lancer ballplayers celebrate Division I college signings

Three Orange Lutheran seniors have signed with top baseball programs

Three Orange Lutheran baseball players celebrated their recent signings with Division I colleges today. Gerrit Cole, Aaron Gates, and Brandon Maurer were honored in a ceremony on the Orange Lutheran campus by their families, coaches, and school administrators.

The trio are part of an exceptionally talented Lancer baseball team. Maurer, who signed with Long Beach State, led the Lancers in saves last year and was named to the Trinity All League Second Team as a junior. Gates, headed to Pepperdine, led the Lancers in home runs, triples, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Cole, who signed with UCLA, was recently named the ninth best high school baseball prospect in the nation by Baseball America.
